Well that was easy money again yesterday! It has been a very profitable week laying the first set winner.

    Today's match preview:

Dominic Thiem v David Goffin - The big meaningful match today is this one and like Sock v Zverev yesterday it is a winner takes all clash! Goffin has a 7-3 head to head lead, he did lose their only match on clay (although Goffin retired at 5-1 down in the first set so not really much we can take from that one).

    Goffin's week so far:

Goffin won a hard fought win against Nadal this week but it appears that Nadal was injured so maybe this was not as impressive as we thought. Goffin was then hammered by Dimitrov 6-0 6-2 that is a massive red flag for him today and was a terrible result.

    Thiem's week so far:

Thiem beat Carreno Busta who was a back up entry in three sets, he was actually very dominant creating 13 bp opportunities but only coverted 4, on the other side he lost all 3 of his own service break points. Thiem fared much better than Goffin v Dimitrov losing in 3 sets 7-5 in the last.

This is a really tough match to call as both players can be very up and down on this surface as we have seen so far this week. I agree with the market that this is close with Thiem being a deserving slight favourite. I think laying the first set winner would make a lot of sense again, 3/4 of their matches this week would have won using this strategy. Also, since 2016 their last 4 matches have all been 1-1 in sets after the first two sets.

Football is finally back! The match that has great goal potential today is:

Belgium - Charleroi vs KV Mechelen
