World Cup Trading Notes 17th June
-
Costa Rica v Serbia - Two teams with very erratic results recently. Hard to know which version of them will turn up. Serbia's midfield looks very strong and Costa Rica made the quarter finals of the last World Cup. Definitely a wait and see approach for me here, a goal fest looks unlikely but the tempo early on will show us what is likely to happen. A theme for me today may be to hope the underdog scores (Costa Rica) and that the favourite reacts strogly for a juicier price on them. We have seen lots of slow starts in games from the strong match favourites this year (Russia aside).
Germany v Mexico - I am a little surprised Germany are not stronger favourites here, they were so impressive four years ago and here at the Confederations Cup last year. Essentially a German reserve team beat Mexico 4-1, I would like the German price to get to evens and to see that they are on top and trying to win before backing them. Laying Mexico a goal up would be hard to resist!
Brazil v Switzerland - I haven't seen a lot of Brazil play so it is hard for me to judge anything pre-match I hear they are deserving favourites for the tournament. Again, if they hit evens and are playing well I will be on them at that price. I would also lay the Swiss a goal up if Brazil start knocking at the door.
So, basically a wait and hope for better odds approach for me today with a couple of potentially one sided games in store.
