Europa League Semi-Final Preview:
Atletico Madrid v Arsenal -
Key stats
- Atletico will be motivated to win a trophy but they do not need to win for CL qualification
- Arsenal must win this match to have any chance of CL qualification
- Arsenal have won 4 drawn 1 and lost 1 away from home in the Europa League
- Atletico have won all 3 of their home games in the Europa League
- Atletico have not conceded a goal at home in 11 games (combining league and Europa League)
- Arsenal's away league form has been abysmal losing 6 in a row
Probably the two most deserving sides to win a European trophy given their exploits in the Champions League over the past few seasons. Both came very close to winning the CL and it would be nice to see one of them lift this trophy. It is hard to see past Atletico here and if they start well that 1.37 on them to qualify could look a decent price despite being fairly heavy odds on, I think Atletico qualifies here 3/4 times at least. Arsenal should have had a 3-4 goal lead going into this leg and that late away goal from a team with 10 men felt like it changed the course of this tie. Atletico just don't concede goals at home and if they keep that up they will go through here even with a 0-0 result. As ever watch the start to see who looks up for it, it was very evident last week that Arsenal were more at the races that Atletico from the off.
