Who you are? Richard
Where you are from? Halifax in West Yorkshire
What stage are you at in your trading journey?
Good question. Wish I knew. Been trying to get into trading for some time but hardly got out of the starting gate. What's your background? Software Tester. Down to a four day week but would love to reduce it more as I move toward retirement.
Why did you join BTC? I'm certain that trading can be successful and hoping this group can be the calatyst
What do you hope to get from the community?ย Help to transition from matched betting to trading
What are some of your trading goals? To build a portfolio of successful strategies
I've been a member for a while but having listened to a good few of Martin's podcasts, decided it was time to knuckle down and also look for help to get on the right path.

@martin @Richard-Oates Hello both, Martin that comment resonates - I think the scattergun approach is why I've never knuckled down to take it seriously enough.
exactly, so it's not only ever trade one strategy, it's learn to focus and train yourself on one strategy so that you can apply that formula to others.

@richard-oates the one strategy thing is because people tend to be scattergun to start with and never learn to focus on one discipline before moving on. Try whatever you are comfortable with

@richard-oates Welcome to the group! Great to have you, we are getting a lot of matched betting peeps come over to this part of the world!

I'm interested to hear what has been holding you back
Thanks Martin. I'm sure mine will be a familiar story
Before joining BTC I bought a few trading courses, scalping horse racing and a collection for football for example
I didn't have the success I was hoping for. Trades would go wrong or a bad one would wipe out profit from the good ones
I'd flit from sport to sport and strategy to strategy, probably without giving any the chance they deserved.
So I'd just be drawn back to Matched Betting, where I am confident in what I'm doing.
Pick one strategy is said. Ok but that feels asking a kid in a sweet shop to select just one but give up the favourite in his hand
I'm leaning more towards 'set and forget' and trading value. That would fit better with my timetable
It would also mean more manageable expectations and hopefully build confidence.
I'm more than open to some guidance. -
