Who you are? Hi Im Neil

Where you are from? Im from Dundee, Scotland

What stage are you at in your trading journey. Have dabbled with trading but in reality a beginner

What's your background? I am a Cardiologist and Property Investor

Why did you join BTC? As the title suggests, I was a sports gambler, was doing ok to start with then lost it......chased losses then lost even more. Tried trading........but then switched over to gambling again......chased losses and lost even more. I joined BTC to surround myself with traders that are actually making money from trading. I did the Academy course which has really helped me focus on my discipline and has set realistic expectations.

What do you hope to get from the community? I hope to develop my skills as a trader over time. I would like to discuss possible trades and to discuss trades that have gone well and not gone so well. It would also be good to hear about success stories from other traders.

What are some of your trading goals? My goal is to learn a new skill and to have a second income from trading.

@neil-anglim This is great to read, you seem to really have picked up on the mindset of trading.

You wouldn't be the first to think with a larger bank I can get there quicker. Very smart way you are approaching this, which was the one lesson from the Academy you think helped the most?

@ryan My issue to be honest is being too impatient. I am so glad I purchased the BTC Academy. The subject of Variance really changed the way I look at things now.

The first steps for me is to pick a (beginners) trading strategy and be disciplined. I previously found myself increasing the stakes when 'I thought' it was a good bet. I need to stick with the stats and not abuse the bank.

I like the statement that it is likely to take a couple of years to get good at this. This is something I was not aware of and expected to be trading with a bank of £5000 in a couple of months. Setting these expectations is a really good thing and at least for now, I will be using £2 stakes until I see consistent results.

@neil-anglim welcome! I hope we can break the chasing losses habit, that's a nasty one. The best advice I can give you is that it will always lead to you losing your money, always, eventually always you will go broke doing that. Just try to remember that every time you are tempted, it has certainly helped me break that habit.
