Levels Have Been Added to the Forum!
-
As you may have noticed each member now has a level attached to their forum posts.
This indicates how long they have been a member and how much they have contributed.
It is automated by the forum provider and so we don't choose levels, it is thus unbiased and fair in that regard.
It is also a great indicator for new members to see who has been around the block and who is also new.
We have had complaints in the past that people are unsure what advice to listen to and in general the levels should help greatly with this.
If you do not like them and want rid of them please reply to this email stating that, and, if enough people are against it we will get rid of them.

@alastair-todd I've asked @Adam to see if the blue bit of the bar can be removed as I think with just the white it wouldn't be as distracting
Thanks Martin, I reckon that would be a good solution, although I promise you I'm not a spoilsport so if most people are happy with it as it is, I'll very happily get back in my box!

Nice idea!

I'm not too fussed either way although I do have a concern in that new members could think that people at higher levels are profitible which way or may not be the case and lull them into a false sense of security in knowing who to trust and who not to.
Most of the time they will be but there may be an outlier who knows.

I'm all for these levels to be honest, if they could somehow be attached to people's profiles instead that would be better IMO, but if not possible, happy with them showing in the forum. I think it's a good idea to be able to know who the old timers of the forum are
Also I think it provides some motivation to contribute more too
Yeah that is exactly the thinking I have behind it!

Same here - just find them a little annoying

@Martin I'm certainly not going to die in a ditch over them but I think they are a distraction and not really necessary although I acknowledge that some people might find them useful? Perhaps, as an alternative, the level and coloured bar could be attached to individuals' profile page so if you want to check someone's number and coloured bar, it is easily done that way. Anyway, keep up the good work!

I was unsure of them, but don't dislike them and it gives a better sense I guess of those who have more experience.
Having been berated on here previously by a member who is not part of this anymore, I welcome it.
Most online forums I have ever been in, or part of have some sort of level indicator. I guess the only thing is to see how it goes on a trial period of a month say and then review
