hi all im ian and new to this but finding my way slowly and hoping to build up over a period of time.Ive started to build a few filters which i must admit isnt as easy as it seems for beginners but is good fun to learn.Only thing i cant get my head around is when it says there is no betfair prices for this match.Im guessing as im writting this to think ok maybe betfair doesnt do that league? But i did do a trade on same league yesterday so again im guessing that they dont cover every game in the league they do cover? So what do most of you do,try to see if on another exchange or just forget that trade?
One last thing atm i understand not everyone likes to give out details off filters etc but a bit off advice would be great if possible,im setting up a under 3.5 goal filter and look to exit after 8 to 12 mins if no goals so ive just done a filter with goals 0-10mins lower than 10%,does that seem about right?
anyway thats enough for now and any advice would be great -
hey lee thanks for that and yes i was thinking the same myself,if it isnt on betfair not really worth chasing it.Yep i can see the logic in that as im only using small stakes now as im building up.thanks for the advice though, appreciate it mate

If the game isn’t on betfair I would tend to leave it myself, personally. I try to consider liquidity too and to think longer term and if I cant get on a game at lower stakes then how will I get on at higher stakes further down the line? I don’t think other exchanges are a patch on betfair for trading. Maybe a set and forget is fine, but not for trading.
With filters I usually start with an obvious stat to filter out certain games but then you have to be more specific in order to find an edge. So my main filter which has done really well for second half goals is based solely on 4 stats - high FH goals and a high % of SH goals which are quite obvious but narrows it down then the last two stats are based on both home team and away teams having a high % of 2+ SH goals - not the most obvious stats people would use but a very relevant one. The trick is to find something slightly different but relevant, whilst trying to keep it simple

Hi Ian,
Welcome to BTC, great community here, everyone is always super helpful and my learning has flown along in the past 12 months largely thanks to everyone on here.
I am currently testing an Under 2.5 filter:

Have a look, copy anything you like from it and tweak it to fit your system. Obviously I would not use the min odds line if I were you.
I will stress though, this is still in testing so it is not optimised at all yet. Seems to be doing ok for U2.5 so should perform well for U3.5 as well.
Any questions just fire away and best of luck in your trading journey
