New Member Introduction - James

Hi everyone, it's great to be joining this community and I am looking forward to absorbing as much as I can from members and hopefully contributing where I can.
Who are you? James Menhenitt
Where are you from? Guernsey (little island near France)
What stage are you at in your trading journey? Pretty near the start. Having never placed a bet once in my life until last year cut my teeth (and lost some banks due to rookie mistakes) on Sportsbook. Took/taking the plunge into trading and learning the ropes.
What's your background? I'm a chartered accountant with a degree in Maths. Former UK top 20 javelin & discus thrower. Interesting fact - despite never having placed a bet, I was CFO for three of an exchange sportsbook that uses the Betfair api and my boss was someone who would be very well known to anyone in the industry!

Why did you join BTC? To learn from other people to help me fast track myself and, frankly was very impressed at the software - looking forward to creating some filters.
What do you hope to get from the community? errrr... see above

What are some of your trading goals? Ultimately to turn professional, but I will be setting myself SMART goals with that as my vision. So will be compounding a target 10% ROI monthly with a modest starting bank.
That's about it! Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

@martin-futter Thanks Martin. Looking forward to the learning experience.
So trading wise, I've been just watching videos from here and a few other sources like Alex Ong, STL and Caan - trying to get an overall picture of a few strategies at a time. Experimenting with O1.5G and U2.5G - have a couple of questions I'll be asking once I've checked the answer's not already here somewhere.....
Also putting together a "form" that I'll be using to help with match selection.... probably a better way, but for me I think it will help me see patterns emerge from things other than pure stats.

@ryan-carruthers Thanks Ryan. After having a look around it's clear that I am one of the newer traders.... ie - only started learning about it a month or so ago. Feeling my way around carefully - but I think I'll certainly be testing your principle that no question is too daft!!
Be prepared for the daftest around!
