@mark-holmes we are adding an extra year very soon so it will be around 2.5 years worth

@ryan Hi Ryan, I love to find angles that are profitable and have been tracking systems manually for a while but it is time-consuming and you can only do it for so long. The fact that there is 13 months of data and hopefully more to come that can back test a strategy in under a minute really appealed.
-
@mark-holmes Welcome! Not that far from me, I am in Lincoln!
What was it about the software that you could not resist?
-
Hi, I'm Mark from Hull in Yorkshire. I was so curious about the horse racing software and strategy builder that I couldn't resist signing up and having a play with it. Hoping for some good results and some fun along the way.
-
@david-hardwick Welcome to the group, how are you settling in?
-
@david-hardwick yes yes yes let's go!
-
Hi. I'm a new member from Leeds/Bradford West Yorkshire. I've done mainly football trading before but i'd like to get in to Horse racing and tennis now too. So the new racing software was my reason for joining. Looking forward to getting started with it.
-
@ryan maybe something along the lines of
- "How do you fit trading alongside your main profession?"
- "Do you ever feel you are missing out or limited by not trading full time? Or do you feel this forces you to be more efficient with your time?"
- "If you were free to dedicate 24 hours a day to trading, what would you do differently?"
I think a lot of my own concern is that you're not spending enough time doing something. We can study past data for hours and hours but at what point does that become a waste of time?
-
@dan-mackinnon I can do this! I wonder what the Q is I need to ask non pro's to get what their trading day looks like?
want to get the most out of this.
-
@ryan said in Introduce Yourself to the Community:
@jonathan-hind Wow so an episode on what my day looks like compared to the novices?
Maybe explain some of the things I do that make the big difference?
That would be a lot of fun!
I'd be interested to hear this, especially as "time management" seems to be one of the biggest obstacles.

@ryan could be something as simple as the daily routine of say a pro compared to somebody more part time and how certain techniques can help improve performance. Making a plan, keeping to time limits etc.
-
@jonathan-hind I will happily do that! Added to my to dos!
Any thoughts or ideas about the subject?
-
@ryan I think that'd make for a good podcast. For me time management is as important as mindset, staking etc...
-
@paul-simmons Welcome!
Thank you for getting in and posting as well! That really does help us point you in the right direction.
I have found this too, not many get it. They just look at us as disgusting gamblers - often times while describing how they are trading forex and will be a millionaire next year!
Football love it! Great place to start is my split stake
-
@milan-vanco Welcome! Great to have you here, how can we help you get started?
-
@jonathan-hind Welcome to the group
People really do love the podcast!! They listen to that and want to be around which is great, Martin is great with time management @Martin
For me I have the same routine, coffee, go through the potentials for that day, narrow them down, then add to calendar - crack on enjoy the day.
Maybe we should do a podcast episode where we talk about how we plan our days? That be useful?

Afternoon,
I'm Paul, from a small ex-mining town that is affectionately known as the arse end of Wakefield (well, it is to me).
It's fair to say that I'm at the beginning of my trading journey, but have over 5 years experience matched betting. I joined BTC for two reasons. There are two reasons for my joining BTC - the software and the people. Without either of these I figure developing as a trader would be quite laborious and not as enjoyable. I've watched a couple of the youtube videos and liked what I saw so took the plunge with membership.
Before matched betting I had been in finance/IT for 17 years before being made redundant in 2017 which led me to matched betting. that was good whilst it lasted, but having been slapped with the gubstick by most bookies I went back into employment at the end of 2019 and am now in Town Planning.
Initially I'm hoping to get advice from the community, such as common mistakes to avoid and also a place to share the ups and downs of trading. There's not many people in my life who want to even try to understand what trading is so it will be a huge advantage to me to have somewhere to chat. What is of particular interest at the minute is bank building / bankroll management so that I can be in a position to start scaling my trading size when I'm confident with the strategies.
As I'm early in my trading journey, my initial goals are to develop as a football trader to begin with and then branch out into the other sports - tennis, cricket, horse racing. Ideally I want to be in a position where my salary from work isn't important, given the last couple of years it's really hit home how important multiple income streams are.
