    Hi I’ve just joined btc.
    I’m new to trading but have spent 2 reasonably successful years matched betting but have got to the point when the bookies don’t want to play with me anymore.
    I’m originally from stoke on Trent but now live in Malaga Spain.
    I’m going to spend the next few days looking through the posts and info on here. Then start to give it a try.

    Thanks

    I`m Michael Gillan

    From Scotland, but know living in Southend-on-Sea

    Complete novice at trading, it is an enjoyable hobby. Mainly trade football as enjoy watching all leagues and different teams. Have tried some horse racing but not as enjoyable.

    My background - I am a community support worker for people who have mental health and have broke the law.

    I joined BTC because of the stats software, and the information found from youtube videos.

    I have never joined a community where you can talk to other people, i`m not a great talker when not face to face with people, so need to push myself to interact.

    Trading goals are to learn what I can, and maybe make some extra money along the way. My trading is very up and down, at times I make some money then choose the wrong trade and end up loosing profit I have made.

    Hi Michael, welcome, it’s great to have another person representing Essex! I’m only 20 miles up the road from you!

    You mention not being a great talker when not face to face, trust me this is a great community and after a couple of weeks you’ll find it difficult not to interact with everyone on the forum. There’s so much good stuff and advice going on (with a bit of banter thrown in).

    Good luck with your trading

    @Keith-Anderson haha, genuine answer is neither! I never got into local football and I try to stay well clear of the political situation. If anyone asks I’m an atheist! šŸ™‚

    Just right! I prefer Judaism anyway, so the political aspect of Northern Ireland doesn't really concern me.

    I'm just delighted you didn't say 'Linfield'. There is nothing worse in this world as a Linfield supporter. #Fact

    Don't worry, nobody is perfect! Most important question though - Glentoran or Linfield?!

    @Keith-Anderson im from north of Belfast, nearer to Carrick but just say I’m from Belfast because that’s where most people have heard of

    @Dave-Jessop haha, sadly most United fans don’t give a toss that I’m a Leeds fan anymore, hopefully if (when!) we get promoted I’ll start to get some more stick, always enjoy the banter.

    @Dave-Jessop , @Keith-Anderson i am a united fan how did you guess?

    ....Leeds United that is! (Long story and a decision I’ve regretted many times over the last 15 years but stuck with them now and in a sadistic kind of way they are a great team to support, never a dull moment)

    What part of Belfast are you from @Will-B ? I'm from the Glorious East!

    I joined BTC about a month ago but at first I was a little skeptical and wasn’t sure if I’d stick around so haven’t done this intro until today. Since joining I’ve been blown away by how collaborative and supportive the forum is, I was expecting a load of bragging and trolling from members but haven’t seen any of this which is a key reason I’m sticking around
    Who are you? Will Byers (not the kid from ā€œStranger Thingsā€ that stole my name!)
    Where are you from? Originally from Belfast, now Manchester
    What stage are you at in your trading journey? Pretty early. I started matched betting last year and did quite well but despite my best mug betting efforts I’ve been gubbed by many bookies so I wanted to find something which is sustainable longer term. I used to do a bit of pre-match scalping with moderate success several years ago but didn’t really have any method or rules so I’d like to improve my knowledge and discipline in this area as well as branching out into other trading strategies, mainly football. It’s very much a hobby for me rather than anything more serious.
    Whats your background? Accountant, and sadly one of the things I enjoy about trading is tracking things on spreadsheets and analysing the results
    Why did you join BTC? Having seen the quality of some of the terrible trading ā€œadviceā€ available free via a google search and having listened to excellent the BTC podcasts for some time I thought I’d give it a whirl.
    What do you hope to get from the community? Learn from people who actually know what they’re doing and hopefully one day give something back
    What are some of your trading goals? My current goal is simply to learn as much as I can without losing money, so break even is fine. I’m even happy to lose a bit if it means I am learning what not to do next time. Hopefully within a year or so I’ll have a few systems which I am comfortable are profitable in the long term and start to build my bank.

    All the best people are from Belfast #Fact

    @richard-donohoe

    Welcome to the group matey, I think we will be able to help you with that. Lay the draw is still one of the most profitable strategies in my opinion - especially backed up with stats - with the stats we have you can save games that have been 0-0 at HT and have high % chance of second half goals.
