Hi All, I'm Mark from Gloucester
Just recently joined as i'm bored stiff being on furlough and need something to stimulate the mind.
Being betting 30+ years on and off, Normally horse racing and have tried lots of tipsters/services in the past. Some had good results, others not. Had good results with Golf betting for a year or so but long term too many loss's.
Need to get betting out of the head now and think of Trading, taking profit while its there and walk away.
Been doing a few Football trades recently and found this site, like the idea that you have a database which can be searched as this free's up a lot of time.
I hope to keep thinking like a trader and not try to make bets fit because they are really close to the criteria, stick to the filters and reap the rewards. I hope to learn from other traders on the forum and be more sucessful.
I am currently using Betangel Pro to place bets green up etc, may change but will still too a similar platform as i like to automate where possible.
Thats about it, i think. -

New Member - Dan from Essex.
Hi everyone, I'm Dan and I'm a sort of new member! By that I mean, I've rejoined. I was a member previously but then had to cancel when I was working abroad in a country where I couldn't access Betfair! When I returned it took me time to get back into trading - listening again to the BTC podcasts reminded me how great BTC is so I rejoined.
I'm from Essex, lived her all my life and support Arsenal. Like many is started trading after doing matched betting, I never really liked MB'ing as it was always a lot of work for small returns. Trading was the natural progression for me. Before I stopped I was doing ok in my trading, averaging 2-3 points per day, mostly taking O1.5 and U3.5 goals.
Before I joined BTC the first time I had lost quite a lot trying to trade LTD after following various 'experts' on YouTube who loved to show green screens of Β£1000's.... stupidly I thought 'that looks easy' - it wasn't! I then wasted money on other memberships that didn't help, they were also just full of people showing green screens but who were more interested in themselves than helping others - BTC is the complete opposite.
Last time I enjoyed the forum and the community on BTC, it's a great place, some of the chat isn't even about trading which is a nice change.
I hope to increase my trading to a level where my second income is on a level with my main income from the day job. I also just want to get chatting and be active in the forum, I've been working from home for nearly a year now and it's so frustrating (although I do have the wife to talk to!).
I'd also like to try and learn trading in other sports, such as tennis and maybe horses, but I'm not too sure on that!
Apart from trading my other interests are beer and gin !!!
Dan

@gareth-lodwig thank you for the honesty, I think we've all had those feelings at some point when we've been on this path - so you are not alone, its now about building up to understanding these and how they impact you then moving forward.
-
@ryan-carruthers I think it been more recently probably for many reasons.
Desperate to be profitable overall & successful
Fed up of loosing overall ( probably because not having structure to everything i do when trading . staking, match selection, in & out of different strategies etc.
frightened and trying to protect my bank to the point missing out on winning trades because im doubting myself all the time now. -
@gareth-lodwig Welcome to the group, great to have you here!
Do you think the you get uptight about it because when you flutter its more fun? This is more controlled fun?
-
@gareth-lodwig welcome!
this may help, wrote it this week about potential stumbling blocks: https://betfairtradingcommunity.com/en/blog/betfair-trading-what-holding-you-back

I'm Gareth from South Wales
Trading wise I've trying to do it on & off on horses & football for a few years now without getting nowhere really. I've recently been using data & statistics but believe that is creating its own issues as I'm just getting overwhelmed with the amount of information and games. I've played around with few strategies' including automation on Bet Angel but as mentioned above not getting anywhere really . i think some of my issue recently is I've become uptight and petrified to loose trades on Betfair now. which seem strange because i still have a flutter now & again which i don't get as stressed out if that bet looses.
I'm currently an aircraft interior fitter and have been for 20+ years but recently have been informed that i am being made redundant. with this immanent situation it has made me more desperate (probably another negative and why im getting uptight) to become profitable as a trader. maybe or hopefully become part time or full time profitable trader.
I've joined BTC to hopefully get my confidence back and to interact with possible traders alike, gain some knowledge from more experienced traders, tips on how to plan a days trading . but most importantly to hopefully to generate steady profits -
@terry-heller Welcome, great to have you here
-
@anthony-renham Hi Dave
I joined here today
I was a member of your original drawntowin service so seeing you here put a big smile on my face.
Thanks for helping me make good profits back in the day!
I will always hold you in high esteem for that.
Best regards

@james-rome That sounds a solid idea to me, they are both solid ways to trade.
-
I been doing mix of both. inplay been trading over o o.5 ht goals and pre game lay the draw on some, Ive had a look throught the guides again as had a bad yesterday lost some money so going to go back to basics use low stakes and focus on over 1.5 split stakes and lay the draw at ko & ht if drawing. high success rates and simple
-
@james-rome That depends on what you like to trade, what sports? Pre game or in play?
-
whats the main one should i focus on
-
@james-rome I'd say lets focus on getting you profitable instead of doubling a bank etc... that can come later worrying about money goals etc....
Like that you said you will use 2 - 5 to get confidence then scale it up as well, if you were using those stakes and was profitable then the bank was growing month on month the staking would grow with the bank.
