@neal-simmonds welcome glad you’ve got in ok!
I think you have the right attitude by the sounds of it not being a gambler but also not totally risk averse.
I love the fact you like spreadsheets, you will fit in well here!
If you need any help with anything let me know

Hey everyone! My name’s Neal, though I’m probably older than most of you (64) I’m new to the group a couple of days ago! Though I’ve had my eye on BTC for a long time! I’ve not been in any other groups & I’ve never followed any paid tipsters. But now enough stars have aligned & here I am.
I guess like Martin, I’m not cheap, but I don’t like parting with money unless I get value for it! (That’s the Yorkshireman in me) And I’m already seeing the value in being here! I’m a stats guy & I’ve spent 100’s if not 1,000’s of hours tracking statistics, race results, football stats at one time but its horse racing now, I’ve been out there on the prowl looking for an edge, convinced it’s out there somewhere!
Some years ago, I had a shot at Trading, it was Oil with me! & Well… Didn’t work out so well.
Neither am I a gambler, though I’m not wholly risk averse.
I’ve done some matched betting through Odds Monkey.
Apart from a trial of Bet Angel Pro! I’ve never used any Sports Trading bot or software though I’m old, I’m computer savvy & I’d put myself at better than most with spreadsheets! (I make them for fun).Anywho! I’m looking foreword to being an active part of the community & I’ll take all the advise I can get!

My Name Is Rich and i'm a returning member, i'm from Tarporley in Cheshire.
I have worked in the gambling industry for 20 years, and my specialist subject is horse racing. I have worked in the trading department of several large betting companies and currently work as an odds compiler, providing horse racing tissues. From a trading point of view a few years back i used BTC to start trading soccer (as a novice), the aim being to add another string to the bow to allow me to be more flexible with my trading life. I left simply because i had my betfair exchange account closed (ongoing issue).
I have now rejoined as i really like the soccer stats software and the help from other members and my aim is to now become a profitable soccer trader.
My working hours tend to clash with horse racing fixtures so won't be trading horse racing but willing to help anyone who has any questions regarding horse racing or the gambling industry in general.
Thanks!! -
Hi Ryan, ye ive been watching the videos, all very helpful and informative. switch from betting to trading was simple, i got fed up doing my nuts on 365. but im looking to learn the trading side just for a little bit of a side income. I'm moving to Cyprus soon and the idea of doing trades off my lap top for a few quid appeals to me. cost of living over there is low so £30-40 a day will do me just fine. i know its not ambitious but for now that's why I'm here trying to learn and see which trades are better. keep up the good work mate.
-
@ediz-orhan Welcome all sounds very sensible to me, start with the start here videos and apply those principles and you'll do well.
Great to have you here, what made you make the switch from betting to trading?
-
Good place to learn your trade, I was in same boat a few months ago, watch the videos, look at all the strategies already available, some make more than others, you will find you can Doctor some of the Good ones to input your own ideas....Good Luck!!

Hi Guys,
joined today. from London. been trading only 2 months or so, but i have been betting most of my life. I've been trading very low stakes just to learn and pick up a few pointers along the way. i want to get into automated and trade overs and under 2.5 and late goals. 2 or 3 startegies to start with, start with 1k bank and see how i do initially. does this sound sensible to you guys?? I'm new so any good tips and advice would be much appreciated.
good luck everyone

haha, yes I can remember him. max meyer thought he was the greatest football player of all times, that's why he left little schalke. a short time later everyone saw that he was only average.
-
@marcel-preuß I'm a Crystal Palace fan and we got Max Meyer from Schalke. He wasn't very good for us though
-
Thank you @dan-mackinnon.
Yes, Football is a big thing here in West Germany. I'm a fervent Schalke 04 fan myself (believe me, it wasn't easy in the last few years!). My apartment is about 1 kilometer from the veltins arena.
By the way, i'm also planning a football tour to england with my wife for the next year. -
@marcel-preuß Welcome Marcel. I've wanted to visit that part of Germany and do a big football tour. I was in Koln in 2020 and was intending to go see them but it was the weekend everything in Germany went into lockdown.

Hi, everyone,
i'm marcel, a 42 year old online retailer and sports betting enthusiast from Gelsenkirchen in Germany.
At the beginning of my "sports betting career" i tried the craziest things like martingale systems and so on (fortunately mostly only paper trading!)...
Later sure bets and matched betting were added, which got on my nerves pretty quickly or was no longer possible. So i delved deeper in Sportsbetting and at some point i understood that the most important thing in betting is the odds and whether there is value in it or not. So i put together the strangest models to find value odds. i spent a lot of time with it and i had good days but at least as many bad days. I remember that rollercoaster of emotions very well! One day i felt like the king and the next day i wanted to give up all that s**t because i lost the winnings from the day before and more. Summarized i kept coming back to around +/- 0 and this has caused losing confidence in my skills!
Also, time management hasn't always been easy for me because I've worked as a chef for many years, which means I mostly had to work when the big leagues were on.
That's why i took care of my family and my work for the next 2 years or so and put Sports betting aside and that was a good thing at that point.
But now I want to make a complete fresh start and that's why I'm very happy to be a small part of BTC
So at this point I would like to apologize for my ramblings and my bad English.
Have a nice day and a nice advent season
Marcel -
@keith-anderson Thanks for the welcome! I have been guilty in the past of scatter gun trading, in attempts to bulk up my trades each day if opportunities are thin on the ground!! Now I am trying to focus on Football (Laying Away Teams, BTTS and O2.5s are some of my preferred) and having used some other resources have become reasonably proficient at Laying Greyhounds.

Good Morning BTC, this is my first day and first post in the Forum. My name is Taff, or at least that's what everyone has called me for the last 20 odd years as a Welshman living in England.
So, as I said originally from Wales (Swansea) but moved from there when I was 17 and since then have moved around a lot. I am now settled down in West Sussex with my family.
I have dipped in and out of Trading for about a year or two. I have done a lot of procrastination with regards to getting fully onboard with trading. I have watched, read, listened to practically every video, book, podcast etc there is on methods, strategies, tracking....
I have had varying success for the short periods I have focused on trading but have now come to a period where I would like to try and make trading a full time endeavour by Summer 2023. Why that period? Its when my current work contract ends and by then I feel I will be ready for something different.
I spent a full career in the Royal Navy as an Aircraft Engineer, later on swapping my overalls and spanners for roles in Policy, Project Management and Training. Shortly before leaving I also completed an MBA and Level 5 Financial Trading Qualification in preparation for life outside the military. Neither of which I have actually used in the workplace as I moved straight in to lecturing Maths and Electrical Engineering Science. That coupled with my love of a spreadsheet, yes, I am like full blown nerd!
I joined the BTC after speaking to Ryan through Twitter as I wanted to engage with a group of like minded people who maybe shared similar goals. I know from my time in training roles and now as a lecturer how important experience of others can help the development of someone. I am always willing and eager to learn, and hopefully with time might be able to offer something back to others. Allied to this I was looking for access to the BTC Software as I would really like to improve my ability to build and back test profitable systems.
To sum up, I'm here to learn, share and hopefully develop as a Trader with the eventual aim of using the knowledge to generate a regular income stream.
Wishing everyone the best of luck with their trades and looking forward to engaging with some of you along this journey.
Taff
Welcome! What sports do you trade? I just trade football. Over 1.5 goals, LTD & SHG

@richard-kedie Top man. those videos are really helping people get started. Did you find them useful?
-
Hi my name's Richard and I live in Salisbury.
I started trading Football about 8 months ago, but results been very up and down. I was a matched bettor for a year or so and trading seems the next logical step.I've joined BTC because I want to get serious about trading and become profitable.
