Where you are from?
Grew up just outside Reading, moved to North Wales for a quiet Beach life about 8 years ago
What stage are you at in your trading journey
Newbie. Have used the exchange for about 3 weeks now. I've bet sport on and off for about five years, mostly for fun. Had always thought the Betfair exchange was something I wanted to try, but never knew where to start. Watched a couple of videos on youtube, (which happened to be from this site), had a play around myself, and then signed up a few days ago.
What's your background?
Worked most of my adult life in Corporate Customer Service, Account Management, and Recruitment. Left that behind in my early 30s, and now live a more relaxed life right on the Coast (and would never go back!).
Why did you join BTC?
Primarily to learn, but there's more to it than just getting guidance and trying to develop and become competent, and then hopefully, good at this. I also joined for a bit of camaraderie and the community aspect of it. It's daunting sometimes learning something new, especially when you're on your own. Being able to communicate with a bunch of other people, all at different stages in their own journey, was definitely a draw for me.
What do you hope to get from the community?
Really what I explained above. To become an active part of the community and soak up and shar as much knowledge as I can.
What are some of your trading goals?- Have fun! Time is valuable, and one of the great things about getting older is that you start to realise that you really can pick and choose what you do with most of it. I've enjoyed this so far, and as I'm obsessed with sport and stats, I hope I can continue to enjoy the process of researching trades and implementing strategies.
- Turn a fun hobby, into a profitable one. I'm not planning on quitting the day job, I'm lucky enough to actually quite like it. But if I can eventually turn long-term profits doing something in my spare time then that would be great.
