Hi All,

After many years of listening to the BTC podcast, watching youtube videos and then even more years as a typical punter and trying my luck at trading, I finally signed up to BTC .... A little about me below.

Who are you? Shannon Deussen
Where are you from? Bendigo, Australia (about 1.5 hours drive north of Melbourne)
What stage are you at in your trading journey? Attempted all sorts of different backing, laying and then trading strategies, mainly with sports but have also dabbled in horse racing.
What's your background? Automotive
Why did you join BTC? I'm a stats man and want access to the amazing software
What do you hope to get from the community? Learn from more experienced and successful traders... And crazy times with these stats
What are some of your trading goals? To learn a slow and steady approach, be a confident trader

Sports trading here in Australia is a little more difficult given that we cannot legally 'place an online bet on live sports' ... But you can submit the bet in Betfair and then use the 'Keep' function in hope those odds (back or lay) are met when the event goes 'In Play'. So I have been working with different strategies in Football to lay a market and then back it a few ticks higher. Horse racing is good to go with online live trading though, but I prefer sports. I'll save that story for the right thread though

I've always been super interested in the statistic analysis of a sport, more so leading into what key stats you would analyse for a particular market prior to entering into a trade.

I know that's a very open question, but using Football as an example - is there a group of stats that you would use in order to determine if a team is defensive, attacking etc. I have always looked at current season O/U, BTTS, recent form and H2H's when researching individual games but would love to delve more into and get your thoughts on stats like goal attempts vs corners for attacking/accuracy, shots conceded vs blocked shots for defense... The list goes on. Thought that would be a cool topic for a podcast or vid.

Maybe this is a perfect time for me to jump into the July 2020 member challenge

@matt-wood Thanks for the welcome, I'm really looking forward to diving into the stats and learning as much as I can from other members too.

Once I have a play with the software and ask a million questions I'll be sure to post up my plan/strategies.

Welcome Shannon. I've been here a few weeks now and can say the stats software is fantastic and I have only scratched the surface with it. Forum is great too, everyone is really helpful, I have asked some really dumb questions being a newbie to all this. Always got a positive reply.

I would be curious to see how you plan strats out given your challenges in Oz with live sports betting. Best of luck.
