@martin-futter Hi. So far horse racing but considering others as the sport returns. Horse racing seems attractive due to number of races but Iām still a long way off being profitable!

Hello all,
I've been thinking about joining here for a while and finally took the plunge.
Who you are? Tom
What stage are you at in your trading journey: Ever since lockdown started I decided to start to learn trading after seeing various youtube videos. I went down the route of trialling the different software and my current interest is pre-off horseracing. I've so far written a script to pull horseracing data into a database and now looking to find potential strategies. At this point though I feel a bit lost in where to go.
What's your background? Science teaching
Why did you join BTC? I found the podcast just searching for Betfair and have found them really interesting, leading to BTC.
What do you hope to get from the community? Ideas for strategies and to help me look at how I should be trading. I'm also looking at other potential sports to trade.
What are some of your trading goals? To look at automated strategies in sport.

@matthew-biggins Welcome buddy! Great to have you here!

So I've been on here for a week or so now so I guess it's time to do one of these, so here goes.
Who you are?
MattWhere you are from?
SheffieldWhat stage are you at in your trading journey
I guess the beginning despite playing at it on and off for a couple of years. For at least 18 months of those I've been utterly rubbish at it and made every mistake in the book. Chased losses and generally been a bad trader. The last 6 months the penny has dropped and thats largely down to the videos from BTC amongst others on you tube. What's your background?
Entered into the world of work after finishing a politics degree around 3 years ago. Being from Sheffield, I guess football has always been a part of my life. I currently walk around the city with a gigantic smile on my face so I will let you guess which of our two clubs I support. Why did you join BTC?
I didn't want to pay for anything until I knew I was in a position to make a success of trading and really commit to it. I wanted something that could really elevate my trading to the next level and a community where I could learn from others who were more than happy to share their experience and knowledge. What do you hope to get from the community?
As above, I want to move my trading to the next level and hopefully be able to pass on my experiences to others the further down the trading journey I get. What are some of your trading goals?
Right now, the focus is making sure I can be profitable. Atm I'm getting just as much satisfaction from the knowledge I am gaining and the improvements I'm making than I am from the profits, which I know is a good sign.Best wishes to all.

Hello Community
Who are you? Stuart
Where are you from? Leicester
What stage are you at in your trading journey? I am in the last chance saloon, been in and around betfair since 2017 - tried everything there is to try and still failing. Current bank is my last bank so that has somehow managed to bring some calm and discipline - but also a real risk adverse mindset, which is good but also i find hinders progress. Enjoyed the content on you tube during lockdown so deciding to join a community where hopefully i can progress - i will take 1% if it is in the right direction
What's your background? Retail
Why did you join BTC? Answered above
What do you hope to get from the community? hopefully some shared experiences / journey - always good to read that for everything we challenged we have - someone else has had it and come through it.
What are some of your trading goals? Short term - focus on 1 market and become a master at that - longer term a 2nd passive income from automated trading.
Nice to meet you all
Regards

What stage are you at in your trading journey? Trading professionally since about 2008 now
What's your background? Physiotherapy
Why did you join BTC? I created it! Because I wanted a place where traders could interact and I wasn't stuck chatting to myself all day.
What do you hope to get from the community? To learn from you guys, get some different ways of looking at things and also share my knowledge and experience
What are some of your trading goals? AutomationHi everyone.
Matt Wood from Ross-on-Wye.
Brand new to the world of trading. Randomly came across a BTC vid on YouTube a while back and was curious. Been messing around learning the basics for 6mnths. After watching The one line lesson vids and other content over this crazy period I have taken the plunge and joined. I must say a big thank you to Ryan and Martin for the free content they have been producing on YouTube.
Background in PT and nutrition although moved more towards the nutrition side of things over time. Huge sports fan. Massive footy fan, Man Utd (sorry Ryan, hopefully you will continue to help me learn!).
I am hoping to learn from everyone here and establish some consistent trading to give me a little extra pocket money. Been a member for 24hrs and already, after a brief look around, am totally confident I did the right thing.
Best wishes to all here.

@daryl-french i've been mainly looking at late first and second half goals recently, I email out the two strategies I use and the selections so look out for those
-
@martin-futter Thank you Martin, I did take note of the under 2.5 goals filter (70% of previous results...backing at 1.8 odds+) in a video you shared. Is that something you have continued with as a profitable strategy?
I plan to trial something similar, but with over 2.5 goals (I just like goals too much to ever back unders!) and see if I can get some long term value out of it.
-
@daryl-french welcome! some of the split stake trading i do is a bit more like betting, although i'm assessing the trades throughout i do like to let them run most of the time.

Hi everyone
I recently joined the community after seeing videos of the stats software on Youtube (it is fantastic!).
I am based in Richmond upon Thames.
I have spent a long time on betfair, playing around with various football strategies but never found something profitable long-term, but am hoping this may change through following a couple of the strategies in the daily emails. I have never been a trader, instead I have always just bet (90% of my bets have been on over 2.5 goals) - I think the main problem with this approach has been the lack of research/stats, my ideal approach and something that I am keen to explore is finding an over 2.5 goals filter that can be used as a set and forget method.
I have an IT and finance professional background, and am a big football fan - I will watch most games on TV, if I can make that profitable then even better!
I am pleased to be here, and look forward to reading and sharing ideas and strategies - if anybody would be so kind to get me started on the over 2.5 filter I mention I will be very grateful indeed!
Speak to you soon.
