lay the draw losses
-
Hi Im from ireland and relatively new to this . Question when you lay the draw say on 5 games and 4 come through but 1 with a big liability looses and wipes out your winnings. any advice?

@Paschal-Troy what's your overall strike rate and how many results have you recorded? If your average lay odds are 4.5, then your average loss is going to be -3.5 points. If you've got a strike rate of 80% or higher then you'll make money long-term - BUT you will lose 2 or 3 trades in a row, regularly, which can be hard to swallow. Got to just do what suits you best and always, always, ALWAYS focus on the long game.

@Paschal-Troy having used LTD for a very long time I think I can help with it.
The lay the draw strategy hurts because the losses are larger, which wipes out the hard work you've done which makes it hard to swallow and keep going - which is what this strategy needs its a numbers strategy where in the long term with the right collection process you will win out.
But it's very hard to handle that for a lot of traders. How are you picking the games?
I found it worked for me for a long time because:
- I was able to follow the games.
- I had a solid system for picking them.
- I analysed them well.
- I was able to cut some of the dross out to get a higher strike rate - this came from taking out leagues which underperformed.
- I also had done it a long time I got a feel for it.
- I could play the long game, sometimes this was 8 months before we turned a corner, I had one or two years where the start of the year was terrible and it hurt the bank which slowly crept up and up took a while till I was into a good profit.
- Mentally I knew all of this.

4.5 approx . Probaly not the best strategy for me as im unable to sit and watch games timewise.Set and forget strategies might suit better

@Paschal-Troy what odds are you laying at? I like teams that are fairly evenly priced and also to do it later on in games personally to reduce odds I am laying at.
